Nurturing Encounters through the Heart

Nurturing Encounters through the Heart

We all experience difficulties with the current global situation. We have seen our way of living altered - how differently we relate to others and with our environment due to physical distancing and imposed restrictions.

Living in Chile and being miles away from Dornach, it is impossible for me to travel and attend the alumni gathering at the Goetheanum. My heart leapt with joy and enthusiasm when I received the invitation from the Alumni Team to an online anthroposophical study weekend together with colleagues, other alumni, and former teachers.

Despite the challenges of online learning, we managed to overcome the barrier of distance and the coldness of the screen. In each meeting, there was respect for the ideas of others and thoughts shared in the round. A space of patient and active listening was also created, as we tried to understand each other in a multilingual and multicultural setting. Even though most of us speak English as a second language, we were able to express ourselves and what we think in each session. It was indeed memorable.

This quality of encounter would not be the same without the guidance of our dear teachers: Edda, Robin and Bodo. They guided us in experiencing a living thinking, that is “a thinking of the heart”. I carry the impulse of Michael in my soul after these encounters, having the certainty that Anthroposophy is lived day by day.

It does not matter if we are far or near each other. What matters is that we are one community trying to transcend distance through nurturing encounters. And with love, we can make this world one that is worthwhile.
