More connected to the world than ever before
For years I had this longing to live in Dornach. I never visited before but deep within I knew… the Goetheanum was my kind of place. A serious place, a place of study, knowledge, and most of all, community.
A couple of years ago I visited the hill for the first time. I climbed to the top carrying my heavy backpack. The building hung over me like a giant watching a little gnome. During that first visit everything was right: the people, the conversations, the topics. It was heavy on my body just like the backpack but I was able to carry it.
After that moment my visits always felt similar. I was so happy being at the Goetheanum and always I was sad to leave. Most times I cried. I felt grateful and blessed to be part of each event, interaction and conversation.
The special thing is that during my online course last February, this feeling was the same. My ordinary life was full of the Goetheanum and the world. During each meeting I traveled to my wonderful, newly found friends in Iran, Chile, England, China, the Philippines etc… All of my study partners were so generous and kind. I feel I really know them although we never met in the physical world. We met each other in a better one. A world that is like a river and where we were in a boat, traveling towards the island of the mind. Afterwards I cried because during that mouth I felt more connected to the world than ever before, and during a pandemic that is a true blessing.
