Study offers at the Goetheanum, online and offline

The challenges coming with the pandemic have also hit the Goetheanum quite heavily. The Goetheanum as a place which lives through encounters and meetings by welcoming the world is suddenly closed by the swiss authorities and since travelling is not possible either the Goetheanum has really to reinvent itself by transforming the qualities coming from here into new forms and formats.

And it is a blessing that this humble attempts seems to meet the needs of our friends in the world. We very much focus on doing the international work online. And to create for the fulltime studies a special year “No Gap Year Possible – Meet the World at the Goetheanum” which allows to study Steiner’s Work and a profund experience of the place also by creating an international study community in the student house.

All Goetheanum Study Offers

Creativity, autonomy, dialogical work and mutual concern are fundamental factors for the study and further education offered at the Goetheanum. As a lesson from the COVID-19 crisis and the desire to reach people in this unusual time, we have redesigned some of our courses into online formats with didactics specially adapted to the medium, which are addressed to a global audience.

Goetheanum Leadership Course (online)
This international and interdisciplinary course with its two modules is designed to be attended alongside professional activities. It is designed for people in leadership positions who want to deepen their leadership competence. (11. – 14.05 & 9. – 12.11.2021)

Goetheanum Adult Education Programme (online)
This programme for trainers, educators and instructors in anthroposophic professional and vocational programmes allows to share and learn ways of teaching anthroposophy in contemporary ways. (1th – 4th June 2022)

Goetheanum Online Course - 28 Days of Anthroposophy
This international study programme offers study work and colloquia at a fixed time for 75 minutes per day via Zoom and 20 minutes daily, each of eurythmy, art and short contributions via video. Study work in German/English/Spanish/Portuguese and French. Language of communication in the colloquia is English. (running right now and will be happening in 15. November/ 12. December 2021 again)

Offers at the Goetheanum, Switzerland

Expanding one‘s horizon by travelling and seeing other cultures is more difficult during a pandemic. But international places of study also provide the opportunity to meet people from different cultures, experience their ways of life and to get to know oneself and one‘s own societal dispositions better.

“For some time now there has not been much of a chance to travel and widen one‘s horizon by immersing oneself in other cultures,” says Edda Nehmiz, who coordinates the study courses at the Goetheanum. She points out, however, that even during a pandemic it is possible to enter the Schengen Area with a student visa and study at the Goetheanum in Switzerland.

People from different cultures and different language backgrounds meet there every year. “Engaging with questions of our time, philosophy, anthroposophy, art and culture and living in student halls makes for an experience one can otherwise only have when one travels around the world,” Edda Nehmiz adds, smiling. “One gets to know other perspectives and one also gets to know oneself better.”

The part-time courses "Anthroposophy. An Introduction and Deepening" and "Goethe's Natural Sciences" take place over six weekends and each begins on 15/16.10.2021. (In German only)
